“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine. I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities. It has been 920 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.
This week I learned some stuff:
-
- We said goodbye to our last visitor and sang Happy Birthday to our eldest granddaughter who turned 27. We loved our visitors and the celebration
- You can find out all about today’s history here.
This week’s Website Update:
-
- I managed to capture my Smash Burger recipe.
- The Home Page will have a quote from Matthew McConaughey: “ Life is a series of commas, not periods,”.
Writing, Bonsai Trees, Stained Glass, and Painting Update:
-
- Stagnant area at the moment.
Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:
-
- I have to keep a daily journal of the things I am grateful for. Today’s journal captured my gratitude for my fortunate world travels when I was a younger man. As my list of limitations continues to grow, I sympathize with those who decided to postpone their travels until retired only to discover theirs, I now do my travels as recollections but still sweet.
- Is it me or have all the search engines – internet and online stores – adapted a nuclear bomb level of accuracy? I mean if I search for red tricycle with silver trim, I might get a blue Ford Fiesta included in the results.Or ask for a speific size – say a wooden 12 in ruler and I am likely to get 100 ft tape measures, laser measuring devices and perhaps a frying pan! I understand that choices are good but not everything in the database please!
Music Update:
This week’s selections took me on a fun stroll through memories – Enjoy the Ride!!
This week’s UJT Radio Program:
-
- Johnny Horton — The Battle of New Orleans in 1814— This song was my first record. I got it and the Davy Crocket theme. We used to sing it all the time. It was kind of our kid’s marching song that we would sing it riding our bikes—fishing or hiking in the woods. Did you and your friends have a song like that? This version is from, “Johnny Horton’s Greatest Hits” released in 1959.
- Adele — Someone Like You — This week I learned that Adele was engaged to her long-time boyfriend. She has given us so many great sad songs. I hope she finds a way to write songs as a happy person.“21” was released in 2011.
- Snow – Informer — . “12 Inches of Snow” was released in 1992. It was different. It is sort of a medley of rap, jazz and scat. Anyway it just works for me. I hope that you enjoy it too,
- Echo in the Canyon — Go Where You Wanna Go (Jakob Dylan & Jade Castrinos) — I recently rewatched this great documentary again.Jakob Dylan does such a great job of chronicling that magic time in the 1960s in what became the mega of American musical innovation, Laurel Canyon. This is just one of the beautiful songs from his, “Echo In the Canyon (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)” released in 2009. If you haven’t seen it yet, search the streaming channels to find it.
- Five for Fighting — 100 Years (Acoustic Version) — I love this song! Something about it just captured my heart. This one comes from his, “ 100 Years – Single” released in 2004.
- Bob Seger & The Silver Billet Band— Like a Rock — I forget exactly when it happened but this great song got picked up by Chevy to advertise their new pickup truck. At about the same time, Bob Dylan made the cover of AARP magazine. It was then I knew I was finally old. This was the title cut from their 1986 release.
That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
