“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine. I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice in the end of hostilities. It has been 2,072 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.
Lots of thoughts and stuff running around the old guys head today. Bear with me, please!
“I love you” . I’ve lived a life where I’ve been able to say this these words many times and I’m eternally grateful for that. But I never quite get past. The idea that I love you is one of those statements that is hard to take it face value. That is the say the things we do to show our love are much more important than how many times we say. And showing our love takes many forms. Sometimes it’s just doing something nice unexpected and that you know the person you love will appreciate. Sometimes it’s apologizing for wrong that you committed either intently or accidentally. One of the things I do for the people I love. I try to get up every morning and enjoy another day. In our family, we’ve kind of gotten to the point where you were having a phone conversation or somebody’s visited will end the meeting with the words. “love you bye”. It’s like gonna be long word when we do it, but it’s sincere and it’s automatic and I like sincere and automatic is a way of saying I love you. I hope you do too.
If you’re going to have a relatively slow, acting terminal illness it’s probably a good thing to have a fairly famous commanding on that journey in my case it appears that Joe Biden and I share a common diagnosis and prognosis. I’m so proud!
I had a long talk about my procrastination with my son. I’ve been putting it off, but I had it anyway. Just kidding! But he thinks my procrastination is a symptom or a side effect of my new hormone treatment for my cancer. I’ve always said the boy was smart. I just couldn’t see it, but I don’t think he’s right. Then I have gotten more emotional. Sometimes I’ll be scrolling through my Facebook stuff or whatever in a video come on featuring a song that connects to my life somehow and I’ll do what I always do is turn it up and smile, but then these days I get some tears as well. Music to me is always been like an old friend the songs I know in love I’ve been with me all along and kept me happy on long drives singing to the steering wheel. There is a video I saw recently that reminding me so much of myself, and specifically one event that’s happened to me. This young fellow was sitting at a light. He had his radio turned up all the way windows down, and he was beaten his steering wheel and singing the top of his lungs with all his heart. They’re having to be a young lady sitting next to him at the light at first was just embarrassed by the site. She covered her eyes and turned away, but then as the music continued, she couldn’t help herself and by the time the light changed they were both head, banging, singing, and ready to go on with the t. My experiences were wonderful that way.
After months, maybe I’m waiting for the last UJT I received a great deal of responses from people when it finally came out. I don’t know what I expected, but everyone was so sweet to me and understanding and supportive once again how’s your mind of exactly just what a lucky man I am by the color caliber people who think will love me. Anyway, I want to thank everyone for the responses. I don’t know how to do it appropriately because thank you seems so limited, but that’s what I’ve got to offer my gratitude and continuing commitment to being the best friend I can be for you.
Our front yard is green again my very tolerate yard guys informed me that it works better when you actually turn on the sprinkler! So the HOA can go back into it, and leave me alone. Now I’m working on the backyard.
Website Update:
-
- This week I’m just putting the new UT up and taking down the old stuff and adding music.
- I almost forgot there’s a new quote for the front page. “Time is a thief. Don’t waste the Little hat you have.” Edward Tineman, The Doctor Blake Mysteries
Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:
-
- These days life is just always weird. I wake up with a sense of relief and happiness, and I pretty much go to sleep the same way. How weird is that?
- I’m not sure what inspired but this week I was able to buy a black 5 gallon bucket at Lowe’s with an American flag on the side. This seems to be a subtle statement about the current state of our democracy and I could be wrong.
Music Update:
I mana ed to find six songs that I wanted to share. These songs I’ll share one common feature when they came up on my rotation my eyes got teary for reasons I won’t explain.
This week’s UJT Radio Program:
• Peter Gabriel — in your eyes—“Sp” where is peters fifth studio album after leaving Genesis? This song is always been a favor of mine this week. I saw Sun alive, and when the whole audience joined in, it was moving..
• Bob Marley and The Wailers— One Love — bob Marley was always one of my heroes. It seems most of America didn’t take him seriously but if you listen to the lyrics of his book of his songs, you become wiser your question what was important yesterday and look forward to tomorrow. This one’s from his 1977 release, “legend”.
• Bruce Hornsby and The Range — On the Western Skyline — it seems to Bruce Hornsby and I were running around the same areas in the 70s that is to say the East Coast of Virginia in the Tidewater area. There’s a certain beauty in that part of the country and I can’t put my finger on it but even as a sailor, I felt it. This one was released on their 1986 album., “The Way It Is”.
• ZZ Top— Pearl Necklace (Remastered LP Version)—, These three boys from Texas know how to kick out the jams I’ve seen them I think once or twice and I’ve enjoyed myself every each time they never took themselves too serious and they just wanted to have fun. Another fun fact, the only guy in the band without a beard has gotten named Frank Beard. this version of the song comes from there greatest hits album released in 2004, “the baddest”.
• Chris Connell — Nothing Compares 2 U (Live at SiriusXM, 2015) — Ten days before my 74th birthday, I learned that this is a song that was written by Prince and never released by Prince. I’m not sure how he felt about Sinéad O’Connor’s cover of it, but I’m pretty sure he would like the way Chris did it but we lost him before Chris finished putting it on vinyl. This cut comes from Chris’s 2008 release, “Chris Cornell (Deluxe Edition)” .
• Jimi Hendrix – House Burning Down – devout fans argue, a great deal about what Jimmy’s best album was and everyone’s got a point. They’re all good. They all have something no one ever heard before and they all mean something nice. But electric Lady land for me was my benediction into the music. Jimmy was introducing. His scale was just astounding! I encourage you to listen to the album from one of the other, I have many times.. “electric Ladyland”, was released in 1968. And I’ve never been the same.
That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
