“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine. I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice in the end of hostilities. It has been 1703 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.
On October 5th. One of my favorite people celebrated her 88th birthday. My stepmother Sandee has been a beacon of kindness and grace throughout my entire life. Her gentle demeanor, sweet point of view and consideration of everyone help me set the standard spared to all my life. I have continuously failed to meet that standard but I still try. Happy birthday. Sandee! I hope you like the cookies.
Well, I had the pleasure of living a blessed life for the most part. This past couple of months have been sort of challenging. Since my surgery in January, my breathing has gotten continuously worse which means I have to have more oxygen piped into me just to get around. I have really reintroduce myself to profanity in a big way as I struggle with the oxygen tubing, I have to drive with me everywhere. My best girlfriend was red diagnosed with the same cancer that she had before in her. The good news is, they prescribed the same treatment as last time which wasn’t very painful or debilitating and they hope it’ll take this time. It should go back into remission. Or keeping our fingers crossed. Saint Jessica has continued to provide support above and beyond with any daughter or stranger or anyone could be expected to provide. She diligently deals with the needs of two grumpy old people that can’t seem to get their head together.
On the brighter side of things, after sleep testing I’ve determined that I no longer that at risk for sleep apnea. The cord in the ponder are getting much bigger and frisky as I watch them every day during your feeding time. My plants are doing better as well and I’m enjoying the lovely time I have outback. We have a new addition to my plan list – about a year and a half ago I cut the top off of pineapple. I was using for making fresh fruit salad and stuck it in the ground. The result has been a beautiful spiky plant but this week we got a surprise – a new baby pineapple is growing out of my old cutting!! We’re all excited!.The last couple weeks have been pretty hot but now we’re going back into the normal range for us.
I’m excited that the GLCPS& L poker group is getting together again in December. It is truly one of my joys to hang out with these old kids disagree them on political matters and other assorted misbehaviors. Our friend Lou will not be able to join us this time but next time.
An old friend of mine who now lives in the Philippines sent me a note saying he required another UJT in his mailbox over the years Tom has done so many favors for me. I just could not help but respond by creating this little document for you. In addition to being a excellent computer services manager, Thomas gourmet Cook and has almost gotten over being the marine. All the best Tom!
Even though I don’t need the house as much as I used to I love being driven around this town. It’s so beautiful here! I hope it’s beautiful where you are fall as a very colorful time of year for most places.
My grandson suffered from fairly justified and deeply felt disillusionment by our political system, and the people operating it. Is discussed with such that he couldn’t even bring himself to vote. But this year things are different and he’s working at not only voting but voting informed decisions based on research. I’m very proud of him for stepping up and accepting the way it is and determining what he can do to stop it. I hope we all follow his lead.
The UJT radio selections are as follows:
-
- Dan Fogelberg – Nether Lands – I miss Dan Fogelberg, like I miss other friends of mine who have gone away. I got to see him play when he was still kicking and it was a wonderful experience his beautiful voice and wonderful lyrics. Join up to fill me with joy. Is the title cut of one of my favorite records by now? I hope you’ll give it a listen.
- Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band – Turn the Page (Live) – I was lucky enough to see Bob Seger in his band play this song live outside of Detroit when I was up there starting out with EDS. It was just magical. He captures a feeling that cannot be denied and his voice is such a great blues voice. I hope you like it.
- James Taylor –Yellow and Rose! – I believe that there’s never been a song written or played by James Taylor. You can’t learn something. There’s something very soothing about his voice and his excellent guitar work is always memorable. I’ve been fortunate enough to see him more than once, and enjoyed every single moment of . This is a deep cut not many of you heard it, but I think it is a good example of what I’m talking about I hope you enjoy it.
- Cat Stevens – Where Do The Children Play– no, this song was written and recorded in 1970 the cinnamon is just as powerful if not more powerful today as we consider things like AI and other things that are supposed to make our lives easier. I grew up playing on city streets in sprinklers drinking from hoses staying out till the lights came on, today’s children are mostly engaged in telephone related activities. Can’t help with thinking they missed something and we owed it to him. We didn’t deliver it anyway Cat Stevens is another one of my favorites..
- Bonnie Raitt – Thing Called Love – I have seen Bonnie Raitt many times and I have never walked away, feeling less than joyful. Her album of Time will go down as one of the best albums of all time. And I think this was made into a video with Dennis Quaid is quite funny as well. Hope you enjoy it.
- The Bleachers- I wanna get better – l this song was brought to me by my youngest child. It’s very different than what I usually listen to, but I found it to be musically, competent and inspiring. What a great sentiment checking out I never heard of these guys before.
That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
