Miso Dressing

My daughter and I just love this stuff. We got hooked on Red Shell Miso Dressing but its not free, especially the way we go through a $5 12oz bottle! So I decided to find a recipe and make it myself. It’s not exactly like Red Shell but good. We have mostly used it on salads but the Japanese use it on steak, veggies and tofu to add that famous umami flavor.

Ingredients

3 Tbs rice vinegar
3 Tbs miso paste (white or red)
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp honey
1/8 tsp ground ginger
1/3 neutral oil

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk vinegar, miso, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey and ginger. Gradually whisk in oil until blended.
  2. Put the dressing in an appropriate air tight container, refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour and shake well before serving.
