“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, is an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine.  The UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities.  It has been  2,090 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This week, I learned some stuff:

    • Does anyone know what the symbol for US Navy Boiler Technician rating is? The BT rating was rolled into the MM rating in 1996 before it met this in glorious end it had about 100 years of proud service. The rating symbol above the Chevron on the left sleeve of every sailor that served in the fire room was distinctive. It had a nickname “flying asshole”. What was the symbol based upon? The answer can be found on the online version of this document in the UJT Kitchen Drawer’s UJT Update Archives.
    • I managed to get in five in a row last week doing 30 minutes on the elliptical. Woo hoo! I’m going to to repeat it this week..
    • I mentioned how much I enjoyed,”The Charmed Pie Shope”” book series by Ellery Adams last week. I am on the last book now. I’m going to be sad when it’s over. I enjoyed the ride! Reading these books have given me a new perspective and fondness for rural Georgia.

Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:

    • This week I went I proceeded to get my passport renewed or at least I thought so. I followed the online entry system thinking I was applying for my passport and it turns out that it was just a we’ll fill out your form for you system. I’m disputing the $68 charge with my credit card company. I also found out I can go to my local library and apply for my passport and I’ll even take my picture. Oh boy.

This week’s UJT Radio Program:

This  week we will   begin our journey through the letter, “J”. I realized that many of my favorite musicians have names that begin with J. I hope you enjoy this trip.

  • Jimmy Buffett — Pacing the Cage — This is one of my favorite songs by my favorite songwriters((Bruce Cockburn) sung by another favorite songwriter. There’s just something that moves me in this song have you ever felt like you’re pacing the cage? This is from a “Beach House on the Moon” album released in 1999.
  • Jimmy Buffett Biloxi I sang along with “Fins” and “Margaritaville” and all the other Jimmy Buffett standards at every concert. I attended. But.my heart was in less popular music. My favorites were the ones that he sang from his experiences as a child and a man. This is one of those songs. Ut’s from is 1977 album, “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”.
  • Jimmy Buffett —  Take Another Road — “Off to See the Lizard” it’s one of those records. I can listen to from beginning to end without it regret. Released in 1989, it still makes me smile, 36 years after the first time, I heard it.
  • Jimmy Buffett  — One Particular Harbour — this is the title song for another favorite record by Jimmy release in 1983. I hope you felt like this about a place in your life. I have been fortunate to feel that way about several.
  • Jimmy Buffett — Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants —I was fortunate enough to visit St Barts in St Martin islands in the Caribbean. I think I’ve had that cheeseburger in Paradise that Jimmy wrote about hearing this song, reminds me of the voices in the air as you walked around the island. This this one was released on an album called “volcano” released in 1979.
  • Jimmy Buffett— He Went to Paris — this is the story Weaver at his best! I could almost feel the green label, burning my throat, listening to the stories. I first heard this in 1973. It was from his “A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean” album
  • Jimmy Buffett— Twelve Volt Man— This is another one of my favorite stories by Jimmy. I swear I can always see the sparks fly when I hear it. is another one from “One Particular harbor”,
  • Jimmy Buffett— Oceans of Time — This was released in 2020 and I just knew, Jimmy’s song is about to end. I can’r tlisten to this song without tearing up. This one is from his, “Life on the Flip Side”.
  • Jimmy Buffett— Bubbles Up — This is my favorite cut from this last release.”Equal Strain On All Parts”  Thank you all for putting up with my meander through time with an old friend I will never see again. I posted the lyrics for this one in case you wanna sing along.

That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
