“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, is an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine.  I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities.  It has been 991 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This week I learned some stuff:

    • The design for the new waterfall is done. The site is semi-prepared. I am just waiting for some materials.
    • I am grateful that an old poker buddy could join us for a game this week. We had a great time just doing what we have done together for the past 13+ years. It was magic then and is still one of my favorite things to do.
    • We are excited because Larry, Barbara Anne and Lyn Clayton are going to visit this weekend! Larry and I became friends in 1971. He and Barbra Anne have built a home in the wolds of Virginia and are in town(sort of) visiting his sister, Lynn

This week’s Website Update:  I

    • This week, I came up with a new seafood concoction. But I haven’t served it yet so you all will just have to wait to try my new Seafood Au Gratin Pot Pie.
    • This week, the Home Page will quote Frank Reagan, of Blue Bloods,“Better to Be Judged By 12 Than Carried By Six ” . I don’t know if you heard, but CBS has canceled Blue Bloods after a great 14 year run. I always appreciated the writing and acting on that show. They did a lot with a Police Procedural format.

Bonsai Tree and   Stained Glass, Update:

    • I came up with a new excuse again this week! I am tearing down my old waterfall 🙂

Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:

    • I know things must change over time. But I remember when Old Spice came in a ceramic container, you had to have a church key if you were going to drink anything from a can, you showed respect even to those you disagreed with, and speaking the truth was more important than achieving an objective or goal.

Music Update:

I had the week’s musical theme picked out and lined up when my younger brother, Mike sent me a new cut from Mark Knopfler’s new album, “Wag the Dog. I will share more next week. This week is all about nonsense songs. I hope the selection makes you smile.

This week’s UJT Radio Program:

    • Mark Knopfler  — Working On It —  Mark has a new album out called “Wag the Dog”! Like Eric Clapton and a few others, he just keeps getting better. I am just getting into but this album seems very special.
    • Dire Straits  Your Latest Trick — This is one of my favorites from one of my favorite DS albums. This one comes from their, “Brothers in Arms” which was released in 1985.
    • Dire Straits — Down to the Waterline — This us the oldest DS recording I own. This is from their debut album, “Dire Straits” released in 1978.
    • Dire Straits — On Every Street — One of my favorite concerts was seeing the DS in Dallas, TX. I forgot the details, but someone I knew won the tickets somehow and couldn’t go and offered them to me. This song just blew everyone away. It started so soft and just kept building and building. My knees and hands hurt from standing and clapping.. This is from their “ On the Night  (Live)” released in 1983.
    • Devil Makes Three – Gracefully Facedown — This one my son turned me on to. I am not sure why:). In any case, it kind of reminded me of my old friend, John Prine.  Released in 2009 on “Do Right Wrong” album.
    • Phil Collins — Another Day in Paradise  I always loved this song. Its all so sad – one of those “but for the grace…” Phil hits it just right. This one was released on his 1989 release, “But Seriously” album.

That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
