Grandpa’s Spicy Dill Tartar Sauce
Trader Joe’s got me strung on on their excellent Dill and Jalapeño Tartar Sauce and then discontinued it. Here is my own version. This is a hearty tartar sauce, not for sissies!
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbs dill pickle, chopped very small
2 Tbs “Tamed” Jalapeños
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, plus more to taste
1 tablespoon capers, chopped,
1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or 1 teaspoon dried dill
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt substitute and fresh ground black pepper
- Combine the mayonnaise, pickles, jalapeños, lemon juice, capers, dill and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and stir until well blended and creamy.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Taste then adjust with additional lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- For the best flavor, cover and store in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Keep, tightly covered, in the refrigerator for one week.
