Life’s Other Shore

No salve for her fading
No one can assuage her fear
Silence or at least muted response
By the other victims
Deepens her aloneness

This angry woman is not our mom
This cold wife is not my lover
This rain of pain is not reward
For loving till death do us part

Terror’s hurricane furry
Drives her anger lash and sting
Hurtful words, hateful faces
For all those that love and care
Building death’s isolation

All helplessly understand
Lifelong buttons pushed
Pressure points found
Their pained winces reflect
But only sadness in their eyes

Think only of the bright moments
Let the timeless love felt then
Carry us through this ocean
These seas of helplessness
That we all must sail
To life’s other shore.
