EYEtalian Meat Pie

Killing time on FB, I discovered the start of this recipe but you know I just had to tweak it a bit. I think it is easy, fast, and tasty. It is also pretty but by the time it was done and rested, I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. I will do it next time.






1 pkg crescent rolls

1 lbs ground beef, cooked & drained

1/2 onion, sliced thin

I/2 cup mushrooms, sliced

I  can or jar of your favorite tomato sauce

1 tsp minced garlic

I tsp oregano

1 tsp basil

1 lb sweet Italian Turkey sausage, cooked & drained

8 oz mozzarella

Salt substitute & pepper to taste


  1. Prep all ingredients … cook beef chunks with garlic, cook and drain sausage, and sauté onions and mushrooms until onions are clear
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  3. In a sprayed pie dish, lay out dough triangles with base touching in the middle a spears lying over the edges. Press dough inside the pie together to form the bottom crust
  4. Mix drained chunks of meat & sausage and place in the middle.
  5. Over with 1/2 tomato sauce and 1/2 cheese
  6. Sprinkle onion and mushrooms on top
  7. Add remaining sauce
  8. Fold dough spread over the pie forming a porous pie crust
  9. Top with remaining cheese
  10. Place in oven for 30-35 minutes
  11. Remove, rest for  5 minutes and serve
