Thai Caprese Salad

I am a huge fan of Caprese Salad made with the freshest tomatoes, basil and mozzarella slices. That magic combination of textures and flavors and contrasts with the olive oil, basil and Balsamic are wonderful. BUT I got to thinking maybe there was another variation that might serve us well. So I swapped out the olive oil with toasted sesame seed oil and the Basalmic vinegar with Sweet Thai Chili sauce. I forgot to take a picture of the dish in my hurry to taste it so that will have to wait till next time. I liked the variation a great deal and I hope you do too.

Ingredients:

2-3 Fresh Ripe Tomatoes, chilled, washed and cut into 1/4-3/8 in slices
1 lbs Fresh Mozzarella. chilled and sliced in 1/4 in slices
1/2 Tbs Sesame Seed Oil
3-4 Tbs Thai Chili Sauce
A bunch of Thai basil, chopped
Shichimi Togarashi

Directions:

  1. Place tomato slices on a large plate or platter
  2. In between each slice of tomato, insert a slice of Mozzarella.
  3. Drizzle the entire array with toasted sesame seed oil and Thai chili sauce,
  4. Sprinkle with Basil and Shichimi Togarashi and serve chilled.

Enjoy!
