March  8th, 2025

“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, is an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine.  I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities.  It has been  2,024 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This week, I learned some stuff:

    • Does anyone ever remember hearing pre-home companion with stories about life on Lake Wobegone??  I just love the sound of Garrison Keeler’s voice as he told his stories about the characters lived around Lake Wobegon. I guess it kind of feels like that this week in our little corner of the world there’s so much political and other kinds of vitriol flying around that sometimes just sitting out by the pond to listen to the water flow off the waterfall helps me cope.
    • According to everything that is truthful and accurate on the Internet, the Nationwide Economic Blackout on February 28th  was a impacted corporate America.  So much so that “they” are  picking out a more specific target for financial wrath and extending the duration so the meaning and the impact of our discomfort is shared clearly. Beginning on March 7th,  we are being asked to cease all financial transactions with Amazon and all its affiliates and  subsidiaries. That means no Amazon purchases, no prime video watching the audible books and the list is quite long as Amazon has spread its tentacles pretty far into our society check what you buy and make sure it’s not an Amazon product. This boycott will continue until the 14th so plan accordingly I don’t suppose it would hurt us much to find out how long how it feels to live without a week of Amazon, GAIN.  Remember that most of us were in our 40s when Amazon opened the stores in July 1995 I think we can make it a week.
    • watching the news clips about losing the 95-year-old Gene Hackman has been disheartening on a couple levels. Course I no one really understands what happened those hours of their lives, but watching the pictures of Gene making his way around his property feels awfully familiar. I feel like I taught her around like that and it’s not a comforting feeling to be honest, but I think people are nicer. They seem to wanna help more heck my grandson volunteered to scrub the griddle yesterday and did a wonderful job.  There  appear to be.some benefits to tottering  🙂
    • You can find out all about today’s history here.

This week’s Website Update:

    • I have a new recipe for  you all. I came up with this cauliflower mac & cheese dish that we just really liked. It’s probably very little nutritionally redeeming value to it, but it sure tasted good.
    • The Home Page quote this week is from the Buddha: “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”

Bonsai Tree and   Stained Glass, Update:

    • I continue to linger over this piece. I feel like i need to retreat to my YouTube college and brush up on my technique. I seem to work on it for awhile and ge frustrated and stop. This is not a good work ethic for any endeavor. I shall “endeavor to persevere” .

Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:

    • this week I’m meeting with a man who’s going to saw off my shoulder and place it with some titanium. It doesn’t sound pleasant but my shoulder injury is become more and more painful so it looks like I’m going to endure some pain for some period of time and hopes of not having pain for much longer than that. Not a great trade but a good one keep your fingers crossed.
    • I met Emily Levine this week on a Facebook RED talk post. This lady explains my feelings on Death and dying much better than I could. Perhaps that is because she is a little closer to it than me but I think she is jar smarter and wiser than I am. Search Ted Talks for her name or look for her on FB. I am grateful I found her talk.

This week’s UJT Radio Program:

This  week we will explore the great music we can find under the letter “C”.  if you haven’t figured it out yet, this stuff is all random for me. I am grateful for all the music i have enjoyed and had the opportunity to share with you.

    • Canned Heat  Work Together   This is a great song that comes from another divisive time in our nations history. I got to see Canned Heat several times and they played this song but never included it on an album until their “Best of” album rereleased in 1970.
    • Carl Verheyen    Claw Hammer Man  My friend Greg Gomez turned me on to this giant of the unsung guitar player world. This one comes from his album, “Sundial” released in 2001.
    • Carly Simon  — The Right Thing  This is a lovely love song written and sung by one of my favorite ladies.”,,,Hold me in your hands like a bunch of flowers…” I hope everyone has been this much in love. This one is from her iconic album, “No Secrets” released in 1972.
    • Carol King — Beautifyl —   This lady is one of my little brother, Mikes’s favorites. Every time I hear this song I think of Mike and hope he feels ad beautiful and enjoys all that comes with that feeling.  This comes from her great album, “The Carnegie Hall Concert – June 18 1971”.
    • The Cars — Good Times Roll —  This song was a huge hit off their self-titled album released in 1978. Something about it always drew me in and got me to singing.
    • Cat Stevens —  Moonshadow — This song introduced most of us to the brilliance that is Cat Stevens. His music always felt like a fable set to music. This song is from his album, “Teaser and Firecat” released in 1971.

That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
