March  15th, 2025

“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, is an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine.  I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities.  It has been  2,031 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This week, I learned some stuff:

    • I wish that I could blame this on my drunken spellchecker, but  he quit drinking last year.  I am afraid it was eyedmanaged to mangle Prairie home companion fairly badly last week hopefully the smart folks that get this thing figured it all out. I appreciate the feedback.
    • well, we made it through our Amazon boy cut without any scrapes or bumps. I hope it was bumpy and scrape for Amazon. I guess we’ll find out shortly. Avoiding their products really helps you focus on how much Amazon is integrated itself  into our everyday life. It’s a little scary.
    • You can find out all about today’s history here.

This week’s Website Update:

    • I have a couple of new recipes  this week. One is the result of a further experiment of the magic of crappy Mac & Cheese. Last time I married fresh Cauliflower with the dastardly urge bumpy goo and it was delightful l if a bit complicated. ted.  this week I combined frozen cauliflower, broccoli, green peppers, and pearl onions with the orange goo and came up with a really tasty variation: Baked Veggies with Mac & Cheese.  after that, I also came up with a variation on a theme that I call Salmon Piccata. It was sooooo good! I also created an flavorful dish that I called, Sicilian Steak.
    • The Home Page quote this week is from the Bill Shakespeare: “The Ides of March are upon us.” BS told us all about Julius Caesar’s worst day in 44 BC. I’m not sure it’s gotten a lot better since then but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Bonsai Tree and   Stained Glass, Update:

    • I continue to linger over this piece. I feel like i need to retreat to my YouTube college and brush up on my technique. I seem to work on it for awhile and ge frustrated and stop. This is not a good work ethic for any endeavor. I shall “endeavor to persevere” .

Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:

    • well, the good news is that nobody’s gonna be selling off my shoulder anytime soon. The doctor I met with did not think it would be advisable for me to have the surgery to replace my shoulder instead he suggested physical therapy and if need be he would go in and clean up the ragged edges of my torn rotator cuff, but if possible I’d like to avoid that too. This is a unusual response from a surgeon growing up in medical school I’m used to surgeon saying, “First we cut it open then  ask what was the question”.  This man seem to be much more thoughtful.

This week’s UJT Radio Program:

This  week we will explore the great music we can find under the letter “C”.  if you haven’t figured it out yet, this stuff is all random for me. I am grateful for all the music i have enjoyed and had the opportunity to share with you.

    • The Chambers Brothers  People Get Ready   this may be the only gospel tune that broke into the top 40 in the 60s and 70s the harmony are beautiful. It’s just a great song even if you’re not a religious person it’s still pretty to listen to. This one came to us in 166 on their iconic, “Time has Come Today” album.
    • Charles McPherson  Darn That Dream   This such a sweet jazzy tune you can just get lost in the riffs for the piano and saxophone. This was released on his “Come Play with Me” album released in 1995.
    • Charlie Daniels Band  —The Devil Went Down to Georgia  This is  another one of those anthem songs for me. An anthem song is the song that you hear and tears wells up in your eyes and you get a lump in your throat. Charlie Daniels was a constant multi instrument musician of the highest order. This song is just a great example of how talented and funny he could be. I had the chance to see Charlie several times and I was never disappointed.  and release this one in 19 79 on their album, “Million Mile reflections”.
    • Charlie Hunter — Fine Corinthian Leather —   Thisis another Charlie for you this boy is a little bit jazzer than the Charlie Daniels but I love the sound he puts together. This one’s from his,”Baboon Strength” album released in 2008.
    • Charlie Hunter  — Gentlemen, I Neglected to Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid —   This song demonstrates the versatility of Charlie and the boys. It’s got so much going on. It’s hard to point out any one thing that’s spectacular about it. This is the title track from his 2010 release.
    • Chris Connell —  Nothing Compares 2 U (Live at SiriusXM, 2015) —  sometimes a cover of a song is much better than the original song. It doesn’t happen often and it doesn’t happen because the original song wasn’t great. It just happened. Sometimes Joe Cocker’s little help from my friends is an example and this song Chris does something to this song that just makes it magic. I hope you feel the same. This is from his, “ Chris Cornell (Deluxe Edition)” released in 2018.

That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
