“ Dobroho ranku”, or “Good Morning!” in Ukrainian, an Eastern Slavic language spoken mainly in Ukraine.  I have decided that the UJT will remain focused on Ukraine until we can all rejoice at the end of hostilities.  It has been 798 days since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This week I learned some stuff:

    • I also found out our health insurance provides up to 25 trips to the doctor/year. So we have transportation options we didn’t know about until now.
    • Jessica and I have begun semi-daily (at least 5 times/week trips to Planet Fitness to work out. She does a mirage of different exercises and machines. I am working my way back to my 1 hour on the elliptical that I was doing before I got sick and hurt my rotator cuff. I am up to level 5 but only for a half hour so far. I will keep going.
    • You can find out all about today in history here.

This week’s Website Update:

    • No new recipes this week.
    • The Home Page quote for this week’s wisdom is from actor and author, Matthew McConaughey: “Guilt and regret kill many a man before his time”. I am not sure if you have read it yet but I found his book very interesting, readable and inspiring.

Writing, Bonsai Trees, Stained Glass, and Painting Update:

    • I was sucked into that sexy shrinking and expanding garden hose that was so popular a year go. We haven’t heard much about them recently.  That’s because they start leaking and blow out before the first year.

Weird-Stuff-O-Meter:

    • My grandkids donated an iPad to the Grandpa Coping with Blindness cause this week. It took some doing but I was able to figure out how to reset it to factory settings and clone it from my iPhone back up ok. I think some features might help me navigate the low vision world but it is a process. Keep your fingers crossed!

Music Update:

For your listening pleasure:  This week’s UJT Radio Program:

    • Dire Straights — On Every Street(Live Album Version) — I have probably been to well over 100 concerts in my long and checkered past, I have to say seeing Dire Straights concert in Dallas in the 1990s is in the top 5.  This one is from their 1998 release “On the Night (Live). Every time I hear this song I just smile and feel grateful that I got to see them do it live.
    • Bob DylanDon’t Think Twice , It’s All Right This the first son I can recall hearing by Bob. but it captured my head and heart right away. This is from his 1963 release, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan”.
    • Carl Verheyen Band – My Back Pages — My friend George Gomez took lessons and ended up recording some fine music together. I love Carl’s guitar work on this cover of a great Dylan song. This is from their 1994 release, “Garage Sale”.
    • The Derek Trucks Band — Volunteered Slavery – I’ll Find My Way (Live Version)— Speaking of great guitar work! This little ditty is from their, “Songlines” album released in 2006.
    • Steely Dan — Doctor Wu —  This song always reminds me of my hometown, Miami, during the “Miami Vice” days. This one is from their. “Katie Lied” album, released in 1975.
    • War  — Why Can’t Be Friends” — This is another great song released that same year. It was the title cut from that great 1975 release. And it’s a damn good question still!

That’s it… Do the best you can; Laugh every chance you get; Always remember… The best is yet to come! As always, thank you for being my friend!
